Terri Evans

“God’s Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Business Woman and Pilot”

Terri EvansTerri Evans, born November 15, 1959 in Washington, D.C. was raised to be self-sufficient and taught to live by three words: Persistence, Perseverance and Love. From bagging groceries and working in her father’s donut shops as a teenager to her current longstanding profession as a correspondent lender, Terri’s hard work ethic has never wavered.

Terri has always been drawn to those in need. For several years prior to her lending career, she worked with the elderly. She always enjoyed their wonderful stories and the smiles on their faces as they imparted pieces of their lives. She recalls, “These were people who just needed someone to talk to or just a simple smile from someone. I learned something from their wonderful stories and drew much wisdom from their life experiences.”

Terri believes in giving back for all of her blessings; having compassion, giving an extended hand and opening her heart to anyone who crosses her path. Through her adult life, she has always given her time and contributions to her church, charitable organizations such as Susan B. Komen for the CURE Cancer Society and the Humane Society. Yet, she always wanted to do more but was not sure what that would be.

Terri EvansOne evening, Terri’s husband, Keith Evans, a private pilot and co-owner of their correspondent lending company EQ Financial, discussed becoming involved with an organization called Angel Flight. This is a non-profit charitable organization of pilots, volunteers, and friends that provide free air transportation for any legitimate, charitable, medically related need.

Today, not only is Terri committed to Angel Flight, but she has become a fully licensed pilot. She comments, “This was not a life goal for me to be in the air, but a challenge to overcome my fear of heights for a cause.” Angel Flight patients are amazing and resilient people with such courage.

They always give me a good dose of humility. Terri paraphrases words of instruction from the Bible, “We must not dwell on our sorrows and things missing within our lives, but be grateful for the blessings we already possess. We must search out those in need and give of ourselves. This brings great healing and gives the focus God wants for us and allows HIM to do the work in our lives that need his great hand.”

Terri is an avid spokesperson for Angel Flight. She speaks to numerous organizations, churches, medical facilities and more and assists with fundraisers to raise the money for fuel and administration costs. Her local committee will be holding its first annual motorcycle poker run this year and has acquired the help of television personality Dan Hagerty of the well known series; Grizzly Adams.

Terri EvansTerri has grown children; two daughters and a son. She is also blessed with five wonderful grandchildren. Her newest granddaughter, Mia Jade, born July 12, 2008 was recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Terri is currently focusing a majority of her attention researching foundations to help raise funds to battle this horrific disease through advanced treatments and eventually a cure. Also on Terri’s Agenda is becoming a volunteer pilot for the Civil Air Patrol flying search and rescue missions for the state

Terri Evans is truly a remarkable woman with incredible strength; an Abagal.

She concludes, “We all make mistakes. I am my toughest critic. Yet, we must always remember that forgiveness of others is a must. The only burden we should ever carry is deciding how we can help another. Never close your heart or your hand; you never know how this seemingly small gesture can change someone’s life..even your own.” At any age, if you are determined and don’t give up, what you can accomplish is unthinkable!”
